We came through the Chauny lock#35 (heading south), Monday, with no problems. There is work being done on the bridge immediately after the lock, so watch for the scaffolding.

Well we came through Chauny yesterday, so can confirm the Sambre route is still open. Thanks for the info.

I think that there is an Avis out for the first lock after the turning to the  Oise a la Aisne but I am fairly positive that you will get through!

We travelled from Chauny and through the Oise a la Aisne on Sunday.  No evidence of a stoppage or preparation for one.
The Navi app presents the relevant Avis on its map which is a useful way of checking.

Thanks. We believe the Sambre is open as you say but it was the last little bit where it joins the bottom of the Saint Quentin that may have the stoppage preventing access to L'Oise a L'Aisne. The VNF route planner seems to confirm this but I can't find any details.

Hi All

we have travelled down the Sambre with ease in early April, its a great route and not to be missed. Think that the St Quentin is closed until August and have heard nothing about any closures on the Sambre on the way down.  Plenty of water and very little traffic.  Great new harbour at Landrecies with new floating pontoons on both sides of the lock, they have invested a large amount of money on water tourism.

best of luck
regards

Hi
We were going to travel the Sambre route from Belgium down into France, but we have been told there is no through route until mid August due to lock works at Chauny. I am unable to find a notice to this effect can anyone advise?

If you go to vnf.fr and click on "Nos chantiers programmés en 2023" or "Our projects scheduled for 2023" if your browser automatically translates, you will find the map of the scheduled chômages, the list of the scheduled chômages and the list of the amendments to the scheduled chômages each of which you can download.
