re-sizing propeller was created by Stephen Thompson
Hi
We have a 1989 Linssen 35SE with a 143hp 6 cyl Volvo Penta turbo diesel. It runs a 4 bladed bronze prop around 450mm diameter. The prop is damaged (I must have hit the only rock in the Yser, Belgium) and no doubt can be repaired. However, at 4 knots we are running at 1500 rpm with virtually no strain on the engine. The turbo doesnt kick in until 1850 rpm and we are not interested in top speed but rather economy. Therefore I was thinking that I should increase the size and or pitch of the prop. I can go up to a maximum of 520mm. Does anyone have any experience of this and also where to get a new or refurbished prop?
Cheers Steve
