Hi Robert - thanks for your reply. I have re-read your original post and can now see that Sander and Tim are in fact from PC-Navigo and that you are in NZ !! I originally thought that you had contacted friends of yours in NZ !!! It is good to know that you had good support from PC-Navigo. Its a tricky decision to make as to upgrade or not especially as we are planning on coming back up the Rhone from the Midi this summer and know that AIS and PC-Navigo will be quite useful.

Hi Maggie,
The problems started with the revamp of PCNavigo 2022.
I have been running 2021 until now.
No problem with help from PCNavigo, if it doesn't work on your PC (it seems to be random whether it does or not, and they are well aware of the problem) just contact them and they will help. You can give them remote access to your PC, and they can make the necessary adjustments if you prefer.
2023 now working on my system, but still has a few bugs unrelated to the above that they are also aware of, and I think are working towards fixing. Nothing that stops you using the program.

Hi Robert, I have a 2018 version of PC-Navigo and was considering updating but had heard that there had been problems with latest update. Your message is extremely useful if I decide to do an update but can I ask, did you contact PC-Navigo about the problems and if so were they of any help or of no help at all ? It is an expensive product and my view is that they should support anyone who makes a purchase.

PC-Navigo 2023 and 2022 installation and running problems solved(!?) was created by Robert Craven
PC-Navigo 2022 and 2023 versions would not run on any of my systems. After a lot of back and forth and excellent help from Sander and Tim, most recently a couple of hours with remote access for Sander with me in NZ, it appears as though the installation/running problem may have been solved. Apparently there can be random issues on some pc’s with the language/regional settings for Windows. Changing these has fixed the problem on my few pc’s that would not run PC-Navigo 2022/2023. Hopefully for anyone else having these issues, this fix will work. Details below:
You will need:
1. PC-Navigo 2023 (or 2022) downloaded and unzipped (extracted). Link pcnavigo.com/index.php/downloads/ (PC Navigo Setup)
2. Your Microsoft Account/Windows sign in Password or Pin (Good luck with that).
Procedure:
1.Remove dongle from your PC
2. Uninstall PC-Navigo 2023 (or 2022)
3. Change Language of your PC to Dutch (Netherlands).
Procedure below:
Windows 10:
a. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Time & Language > Language.
b. Choose Dutch(Netherlands) from the Add a language list under Preferred languages, and then select Options.
c. Select Download from the language pack option.
d. After the language pack is installed, select Back ←
e. Choose Nederlands (Nederland) from the Windows display language menu.
Windows 11:
a. Select Start > Settings > Time & Language > Language & region
b. In Preferred languages, select Add a language, enter Dutch (Netherlands), then select Next.
c. Select Download from the Download language pack option.
d. After the language pack is installed, select Back
e. Choose Nederlands (Nederland) from the Windows display language menu.
Microsoft will now sign you out of your account (probably) so you will need your account password/pin to sign back in. Once signed back in, your computer will now be displaying in Dutch.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Install PC-Navigo 2023 or 2022. You may select any language option for PC-Navigo.
6. Insert Dongle after installation, and run and check PC-Navigo. Hopefully, it should now be working.
7. You can now change the computer language back to your preferred language. Because your computer is now in Dutch, these are the steps to revert back to your preferred language:
Windows 10 and 11 (maybe slight differences, but very similar): Start (button) > Instellingen > Tijd en taal > Taal en regio > Windows-weergavetaal > select your preferred language from the drop down menu > Afmelden > you will be signed out of your Microsoft account. Sign back in when prompted, and your usual language should now be displayed on your PC.
If you are having problems getting your AIS to work with PC-Navigo 2022/2023, you can download an automatic AIS configure tool from PC-Navigo here: pcnavigo.com/index.php/downloads/ (TestCommTool).
Cheers,
Rob
