They have kindly agreed to let me roll it over to next year. To be honest I don’t want to push it as I have really messed them around in recent years. Two years ago cancelled due to covid. Last year cancelled as wife broke arm and dog broke leg.

They have been very understanding so I’m happy to bite the bullet.

Have you asked about a return of your deposit if you are unable to get there for reasons beyond your conrol?

Thank you. I’ve lost a deposit but I’m now booked into Auxonne with a few weeks to go up the petit saone - so thanks for everyone’s help.

I suggest that you read my post "Canal du Centre this time.".
There are two reasons that boats are being grouped.

1. They are going to convoy boats off the canal, in my opinion a 25% chance.

2. They will try to keep boats afloat in two small sections of canal 75% chance.

Closure of the canal 100% chance.

You say that you are on the Rhone.
Surely you have noticed that the flow is about a third of what it is at this time of the year.

There is very little water in central France. It will be used to provide essential services before pleasure boating.

Nobody in living memory has seen a situation like this.

Reception is poor here and this is the text from Hervé, port captain in Roanne.

Direction
territoriale
Centre-Bourgogne
Service développement
de la voie d’eau
Note à l’attention des usagers

A new VNF notice states that this closure will now take place from 21 August at 7.00pm.
I think an avis is due to confirm this.

We have just been informed that from the 18th there will be a decree prohibiting navigation between Roanne and Montargis
