We travelled from Sancerre to Decize 23 - 28 July and the levels were all good with little weed, the only low sections were the first few travelling from Briare towards Decize

Hi Phillip, do you know what is the situation if you are coming from the South? Can you get from Decize to Sancerre? Thanks, Robin

We also managed to get through lock 38. We have just gone through lock 30 and at last water levels are back up. They were very low until now. We draw .8 and wouldn't have liked to draw any more.

We passed through Maimbray Lock 38 yesterday afternoon. The adjacent pound was very low , we passed Bellville lock 37 and the situation improved and moored at Lere for the night. The lockeeper told us that some feeds are blocked due to weed and that a team had been working on it on Thursday.

It's difficult for us English speaking folk.
Algue is what he probably said, which I think relates to water born plants/ weed, as I "seaweed"

Those fluent in French may want to correct my Fringlaise 👍😁

The information I have via a fellow French boater via the VNF is that the canal is blocked with weed at Thauvenay and will take considerable time to clear..perhaps several weeks.
I understand an avis will be available soon.
Phil.

We are moored at Beaulieu-sur-Loire and are awaiting information from VNF and should hear soon.
Several boats (drawing less than 600mm) transited yesterday. It is not clear but I think it is only 1 pound.

We are behind you at Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluse also heading for Decize , will you ask if it is just one section which is very low or multiple pounds. I do not wish to drive them mad.

I have a contact number below.

Confirming Barbara's post. We arrived at Maimbray Lock 38 and were told that due to low water (600mm) only boats with a draft less than that would be locked through. The lock keeper had no information about duration of closure. We have contacted the VNF and will speak with them this morning and will post any news as it comes to hand

We are in Briare and were heading for Decize. Today we were advised that we can only go as far as Maimbray as the water levels are too low, 60 cm. I know of one boat that left this morning was turned back. There has been no notice yet from the VNF. Bruno, the Capitain came and told us this morning and said it would be made official soon.
