Thanks. We are docked in front of the Vierel lock on the Netelkanal. They are closed for Easter Monday holiday. We will catch the high tide at Lier tomorrow am.

Yup, strange that the Maas closure is not better advertised.

Thanks again.

I think it must be this then:
spw-nts.periskal.com/Message/Details/1382

Took some looking up, you’d think they would “advertise” something with such significant impact a bit more clearly.

While the Albert Canal is certainly not known for being pretty it does usually work efficiently.
Turning off in Viersel will save you a world of trouble in Antwerp*. Route to Schelde via Nete-canal, Nete river and Rupel river.

* lock-issues for pleasure craft, AIS requirement for all boats sizes

Have a nice trip,
Liza

Also, I hear most commercial traffic is now going down the Charleroi. It will get crowded in the locks.

Thanks for responding. Yes, the Albert Kanal to the Dender and then the Sambre is at least a week diversion. However, I learned that a normal did hit a bridge below the Ramet sluis which either collapsed or is being taken down. The lock keeper said the opening is not before April 21.

I hear the Dender and the Sambre is open with good depths from locals here.

Dear Anders,

I can’t seem to find that stoppage on the Walloon messages to skippers website.
This is the Ivoz-Ramet lock we’re talking about, right?

There are some stoppages listed on the Meuse and Basse Meuse but short ones for a couple of hours.

Not that it’s any of my business of course but backtracking to the Albert Canal seems a drastic detour which will take much longer than 3 days.

Best,
Liza

Just found the Maas Ecluse Ramet is closed until April 21. On our way to the Ardennes. Backtracking to the Albert Kanal. Does anyone know if the Dender or Kanal Charleroi has any stoppages?
