Hi All,

Despite my goof intentions, I have come to the conclusion that repowering the sails on my barge is not going to be within my budget for a year or two. The final straw is the mast and tabernacle condition (I'll be lucky to keep half the mast and the tabernacle needs rebuilding).

I've decided to prioritise other tasks (like making the boat watertight) so have decided to offer these sails to anyone who can put them to good use. It just isn't fair for me to leave them in storage whilst I dither over whether or not I will eventually use them.

Can anyone put them to good use? I'm in Surbiton and am often driving between here and Hampshire. Happy to deliver en route (ish). I work in Kingswood so can drop off in that direction.

The only condition is that you offer to drop a message to the original owner once they are installed as I'm sure she would love that :)

All the best,

Paul

Luff = 7.74m
Foot = 5.55m
Leech = 9.55m
Clew to Luff-top = 9m

Collection only from Cookham, Berkshire. It seems to be made of thick red/brown canvas

I have just received the following message from a non-member, which may be of interest to someone.

"My neighbour has a canvas main sail from a Dutch Botter that her late husband stored in my garage for 20 past years. She would now like to find a home for it and is not looking for money for it, but it would need to be collected. It has three patchable holes. Photos are available."

I've asked about the size and its location, which I'll report when I get it.. The STD code 01628. If anyone is interested, I'll provide the email & phone contact details.

Pete
