New Member Introduction 09 Dec 2011 18:17 #36461

Hello Bill,
Sorry to hear that you have sold Linquenda. I see that she is still on the
Barge Register in your name. Do you know if the new owner is a DBA member -
if so, and if you can let me have a name, I can transfer Linquenda's entry
to them directly - otherwise I will have to transfer her to the Admin list
and hope someone pops up o claim the entry.
Best Wishes
Ian Ferguson

Hello Ed and Hannah,

What size is your tjalk?
In 1995 we retored the sail rig on Linquenda, our 19 metre ltjalk.
With the new rig we sailed from Friesland to England and the next year
back to FrieslandIn 2004 we sailed through northern Germany to sail for a
few months in Meckleberg and the following year back to France, leaving the
sail rig in longtime stowage as the opportunity y to sail in '''france is
limited....
Due to health reasons we sold Linquenda two months ago and the new owner
appears not to be interested in sailing, so the rig is available.
If you are interested I will send you tie details an what is available

Hi Bill

Sorry to hear you had to give up your boat.

Our boat is a similar size to yours (21 m) and thanks for the info, however
we have just puchased a mast, sail rigging, lee boards etc...

Sounds like you had some amazing trips though.

H Charlie

We've had the boat just over a year - she's 21.4x4.3m, open cockpit, tiller
steering etc.. other than that we know very little about her.
We think she is possibly a Groningen but are planning a research trip next
year to the Netherlands, stopping first at the Maritme Museum Library in
Rotterdam.

In terms of the refit, she needs some TLC. She has a fine hull but needs a
complete refit which will start in ernest in the spring, back to bare metal
inside, new floors, new water & electric systems etc...
We dry docked her recently for blacking, nodes and some external painting
but essentially we intend to make a 'new boat' of her.

We always intended to re-rig her (she only has a 'pretend' mast which is
pretty much only good for firewood) but towards the latter end of the
project, however we cam across a full rig, lee boards, winches, sails &
rigging etc... so had to buy it.

It will be a little while before she is fitted with the sailin rig but
certainly hope to have her fitted by this time next year.

There are pictures of her before and after dry cocking on the barge register
- see 'Jenner' - Tjalk

I'd just like to introduce us to the group:

We're Ed and Hannah and our Tjalk Jenner which we bought a Tjalk just over a
year ago.
Just starting the long process of renovating her which includes restoring
her to sail.

Looking forward to meeting other members in the coming year.

Cheers
Ed & Hannah
