The Dutch (sailing) barge book 26 Jul 2015 18:29 #64828

Hello Chris,

In between David's post and yours the DBA did take both of David's books combined them into one volume and put them on sale in the DBA bookshop. Unfortunately demand was low and David took the stock back with the intent, we thought, of offering them via another channel such as Amazon. The trail goes a little cold at this point!

Your best bet would be to buy one of the second hand copies on Amazon or Abe books.

The Rotterdam museum has a bookshop and various books on barges - but all in Dutch - not surprisngly!

Best Wishes

You don't need a barge to join - a dream of boating in Europe will do'. See www.barges.org

I know it's a long shot given this post is some 5 years old but I was wondering if it would be possible to get an electronic copy of the Sailing Barge book from David? We are looking at purchasing a Dutch Sailing barge and since we aren't sailors (our previous boat was a diesel only) I would like to do some research.

Best regards

Hi, I am now responding to more and more requests for copies of the sailing barge book, sadly it is now out of print. I did try to get the DBA interested in taking over publication of both books and a third unpublished work, but got no response. My original publisher made the transfer from acetate to digital and failed to keep copies or transfer the sailing book so I can not easily start a new print run. I have the text on disc which I will happily supply to anyone who requires it, but the illustrations are all my originals and are hard copy and unscanned. (as yet)
Cheers David Evershed
