Ok thanks for that. Yes we had considered that. I think we've decided on another route now as it's a much bigger engine in physical size

The first questions really are where is your ship and do you have ES-TRIN / TRIWV on your ship, or is it likely that you would want to certify it (i.e. return it to Europe if not already there)?

If you are changing your engine then the current understanding is that the replacement unit must be a new emissions compliant unit to latest standards. You can however recondition your existing engine and refit it.

Even if in the UK where ES-TRIN does not apply it might be a short sighted fix to replace with a different old non-compliant engine.

Hi all

Well our DAF 575 is in need of a rebuild but we have been offered a DAF DH 825 as a replacement.

However information on this engine is scarce compared to the 575 or 615.

Could anyone give any indication as to how this engine is regarded for marine use, and perhaps as importantly whether the engine rotation is the same direction as 575 and if our gearbox adapter plate will fit or not?

It's seems to be 136hp according to Vink diesel's page and that extra hp wouldn't go amiss on our 30m clipper, even if we have to have the propeller adjusted.

Any help much appreciated as rebuilding the 575 is an option of course if this is more hassle than it's worth.

Cheers
Adam
